Weekend

We went to visit Mom and Dad H last weekend. It was a quick trip but we managed to get to the zoo. We had a blast. We saw a very more animal and even got to pet a shark. The kids still loved the birds the best.  This time Isaac got to go with us.

Lunch on the river

The food and the service were not that great but what a fun atmosphere!

Cookies with Grandma

Williamstown Lake

Over Labor Day weekend we went to the lake. It was the kids first time. I wish I had taken more pictures. Janna absolutely loved boating. Simon liked it but wasn't as excited as Janna. Kenny even let him 'drive', he liked that.  We swam and just enjoyed the day.

My Trip to California!

This past weekend I got to on a Girl crafting weekend in California with my friend Amie.

I flew by myself for first time. I was more nervous about navigating the airports than leaving the kids and meeting new people.  I flew out of Lexington at 5pm on Thursday. The following an older business guy in Atlanta to my concourse. I overhead he has had the same concourse and I asked to follow him. I am glad I did because I started to go the wrong way and he directed me. I am thankful for him.  The flight to Sacramento had to change planes and we got different seat assignments. There were two very angry men yelling at the desk clerks.  I was happy for a seat and to be able to get there.  I felt bad for the desk clerk who had to deal to the men because I have had angry students at my deck before too. The flight from Atlanta to Sacramento was very rough and turbulent. I got nauseous along with the rest of the plane judging by the number of ginger ales and sprites that were ordered on the one and only trip they could make down the plane.  I was so thankful to be on the ground and see Amie.

Amie took me to go In and Out burger on the way to their place. It was my first burger in over 20 year and it was very good.  Once back at her house we settled in and then went to bed. I was excited to have my own bathroom and a very comfortable bed.

Friday morning we got up. I got to see their kids and say hello. We had breakfast, and then I helped her pack up her stuff.  We stopped by Starbucks and then we went and got pedicures. My first! It was awesome and so nice of her to treat me to such a luxury. I love my toes!  It was so nice to sit back and relax; with no responsibilities and someone taking care of me.

While there we got a call that the fires going on were getting too close to the place we were going for our crafting retreat and they had to cancel. Amie took charge and with help from the other girls, we found an alternative place for the same price.  It is amazing what 9 moms who need a break will go through to get some  ‘me’ time. God provided a wonderful place.

We headed towards Santa Cruz to Redwood Christian Park for the weekend. When checking in we found out the camp was founded and closely associated with my place of employment.  There were three cars of three heading to the camp. We picked up Laurie and I got to meet a new friend.  By the end of trip It was so nice to meet new friends.  I got along fine with and had nothing to worry about.

There was a an Ark that was 1/6 the size of the real one. Take a look!
On the way we drove by windmills. They were so cool. They don't have these where I am from....
We got pizza from a pizza and pub place.  It was a hole in a wall restaurant but the pizza was good. Then we went back to the camp and set up the place for crafting needs and picked bed. The two other group made their way in. We stayed up late (really late for me) talking and hanging out.

Saturday breakfast was at 8am, early,  so we went down and ate then returned to craft and just down time. I think most of us took a nap during the day too.  Amie and I scrapbooked, Laurie quilted, some read books, planned menus, watched movie, and just relaxed. We took breaks for lunch and dinner. Some girls went for  a walk.  Saturday night we had dinner on our balcony together as a group. It was really nice. I wish I would have taken a picture. I tried tri tip for the first time that night.
I got to drink out of this fun cup all weekend, with a color changing straw, Awesome!
Instead of friends I have a picture of all just the thirty -one bags! Wow!

Sunday we had breakfast at 8am again. Due to schedules some girls were planning on leaving after breakfast to get home.  Some had stuff happen at home to make them need to come home early too. Because of the change of location we were trying to figure out my flight home. After looking into it we decided instead of leaving Monday morning as planned it was better to leave the camp late Sunday night. We left before dinner.  The last group decided to come on home too.  We stopped at Fuddruckers for dinner. I had never been there. It was good.

When we got back to Amie’s house we settled and watched part of movie and had ice cream on a comfy couch.

Monday morning I said good bye to Matt and the kids and then Amie and I went to a little shopping center before we had to leave for the airport. We bought scarf's at a fun store.  Here is a picture of Amie and her new scarf.

The security line in Sacramento was long but I had time to get in and to my gate and get food. The flight to St. Paul went fine.  The gate we got into was the far away from my connection. I figured out to take a tram to my concourse, without following anyone.  My gate was in the middle of no way, around no food. I had to hike a way to get a snack. The flight was smooth but I felt smooched by a big guy in front of me who kept pushing his seat back.

Once there I was happy to see Isaac and the kids. It was a wonderful trip.
