Weekend

We had a great weekend at our house.

Saturday morning Isaac took Janna to the library and they had so much fun together. I enjoyed the time with Simon. It also gave me time to pick up the house and shower and get ready for the day. She came home with a new favorite book "Mo's Dirty sweater". It is about a monkey with a rainbow sweater and it is really dirty.

She took a short nap after lunch with Isaac in our bedroom. Simon and I played. I even got a chance to download the Christmas pictures. I am that far behind.

Then we went to birthday party 2:30 for Sara. Simon wasn't feeling well still but Janna had fun with the balloons and loved the cake. She interacted well with all the older kids.

The we got home had dinner, played, had bath. Then we had a visit from Eric, Rachel, and Mom&Dad Wilson.

Sunday we had church, had lunch, had our quiet time and watched a movie, then we all went to the park before dinner and played. She had her dinner early and didn't eat much, she pushed her plate away and said go to bed now. We let her sleep in our room . Unfortunately she woke up after two hours (a nap) instead of sleeping though. Since it was only 8pm when she woke up she let her watch a short movie and read a book and she was back asleep by 9pm. Isaac and I had a nice quiet dinner during her nap. She was ready for bed by then and didn't fight too hard.

I had a good time playing with the kids this weekend.

Janna = Fever

Sunday Night Janna woke up in then middle of night. She felt hot when I went to check on her but she fell back asleep. Monday morning I took her temperature and it was 101. Janna and I stayed home, while Isaac went to work and took Simon to school.

Even with Tylenol the lowest I could get her temperature was 99. She was begging to go to the doctor, so I got an appointment at 1:30. That morning she never left my lap or hip. We snuggled on the couch and in bed. She refused to fall asleep, although she was so tired. She was so cute and puny and so lovable. She didn't eat a thing or talk much at all. She drank about two sips of juice.

We left for the doctor appointment early because she kept asking and we were just waiting at home anyway. We saw Dr. Riley who was very nice. It was just a fever and her throat was only a little sore. Tylenol and Motrin was all he could recommend.

She was not very good when the doctor was looking at her. She had her hands over her ears most of the time. She was very mad when he looked in her ears. She hated the strep test and the finger prick/blood drawn. She was loudly screaming. Of course when were told we could leave she gave him a high five and talked about him not touching her ears anymore. Then as we were walking out the door, he was just in the hallway she told him about the popcicles and grapes she was getting at the store. Then she smiled at him. Dr. Riley was very nice and patient. He even got her a sucker while we waited for the strep and blood test. He got the sucker himself, which I find to be a sign of a good doctor.

Afterwards we went to the grocery store and got the Popsicles and purple grapes she was requesting along with a few other grocery items that were needed. She was too tired to walk and I held her throughout the store. Then she "crashed" in the car on the way home. She took a good short nap.

We stopped to get Simon and then headed home. By 6pm she was playing, eating, talking alot, and generally happy. This morning she was ready to wake up and wanting to go to school. She was better.

I had a good day with her at home with only one minor fit. I am so glad she is better.

Simon = Ear Infection

We went back to the doctor Friday afternoon and Simon's ears are still infected. We are no taking omnicef. I hope that this one works!

Janna's Favorite Weekend Activity

Grocery Shopping! I am not sure if it the cart by itself or the fact she gets to pick out something small ( yogert, chocolate eggs, goldfish, cookies) if she is good. She is so cute though.:)
Note: the ladybug riding in the cart

Belts

This morning Janna was following Isaac around as he was trying to get dressed. ( Which I think is the cutest thing ever.) As I was feeding Simon, I heard Isaac explaining to Janna what a belt was and how it was use to hold your pants up.
A couple minutes later while Isaac was eating Janna and I came in the kitchen, Janna say, " I don't have a seatbelt, Daddy has a seat belt." I could barely hold in my laughter.

"What are belts for?" I asked.

"Seatbelts are for pants, I don't have one." Janna replied.

Since we are potty training she won't have a belt for awhile but now she at least gets the general idea of belts.

Day Light Savings Time Change

Conversation Monday morning on the way to school.

Janna: Mommy, it is dark.

Me: Yes it is honey

Janna: The lights are on ( the street lights)

Me: I see that Janna

Janna: Mommy it's not bed time

Me: No, it is time to wake up and go to school

Janna: Where is the sun?

Me: Hiding, it will come out soon

She has learned that is bed time when the street lights are on and it is dark outside. The sun is hiding is the best explanation of the time change that I could give her that I thought she would truly understand.

I have the two cutest kids ever! I am so blessed to have them in my life. God has really blessed our family. In the midst of all the craziness of our life, I love to take look at these pictures and just say "Thank You Lord".

Potty Progress

Janna telling us she needs to pee in the potty and then going. She is keeping her diaper dry more often. She HATES the changing table or having to be lied down flat for a diaper change. This week she got her first pair of big girl underwear. She wore them Saturday and Sunday for about three to four hours and kept them dry. She peed in the potty twice while wearing them.

She is doing a great job. I am so proud of her!

Ear Infections and Coughs

So the kids have been coughing a lot lately. Isaac went back to the doctor last week for his cough and got more anti-botics, we just can kick it out of his system. Janna's has gotten worse and we were waiting the two weeks. Simon hasn't been quite right but could tell what was wrong. This weekend he started with a higher fever and coughing, so we thought it might be more than just his teeth coming in. He hasn't been as playful or smiley or eating as well.

Turns out...Simon has a double ear infection. We had no idea. I briefly mentioned something a couple weeks back when he quit sleeping as well, but Isaac said I was paranoid because of Janna. Then he got better or I got used to the sleeping schedule. Oh well. He doesn't scream when you put him down, so we had no idea. We hope that this is just an ear infection and they don't get bad like Janna's did.

Janna this morning said that something was stuck in her throat, so cute:) Part of her ear is really red outside area of the tube. Her throat was a little red but okay.

Both her and Simon have clear lungs so it is just a cold and cough. Both kids had to have wax cleaned out of their ear in order to get their checked. This was the worst part for her. I had to hold her down and she got so upset. Simon got his second round of the flu shot he needed.

Dr Lewis was really nice and we like him. He did well with Janna.

Janna is 26.5 pounds and
Simon is 16. 2 pounds.

They start their anti-botics tonight.
