Weekend

We had a great weekend with my parents. Isaac and I stated at the end of the weekend we felt lazy. It was very relaxing. The kids had a blast with my parents and didn't let them leave their side. At one point my dad went to use the bathroom and Simon went walking all around the floor pulling doors open yelling pawpaw. It was so cute. Isaac went to a movie while I went to lunch with friends. Then that night we made a trip to IKEA. They didn't have the shelf we wanted but we will get it later. Sunday we took it very easy and just relaxed. Us girls went out shopping for an hour in the morning. Simon had outgrown his shoes. We got him new shoes that fit and he likes them. We also got him a cars shirt and three pants. Janna got ring and stick-on-earrings. We made it home in time for the Steelers to play the Jets. It was a good game and we won. Go Steelers!

Lunch Date

Every month I have a lunch date with Kristen and Emily. They are good for my soul. That is so corny, but I don't know a better way to describe it. Kristen used to work here in my building with me, but once she became a stay-at-home mom, we started these lunch dates. It is a fun way for us to keep in touch and know what is going on in each other lives. We swap parenting stories and etc. On bad days these two make it all better. I am so blessed to have a friend who I can talk freely with about anything. I look forward to these lunch dates every month.

Burp Rag

I read a post the other day on her child's favorite bear. The items that a child carries around non-stop. I realized I have never written about the ones in our family. If you know Janna at all you know all about her "burp rag", but I thought it would be nice to document it.

Janna has a burp-rag (also know as stink rag according to my mom). They don’t make this kind anymore and if they there was she would be a notice the difference. We use to have two until the day I washed one because it was left outside buried under mulch at her school’s playground. I used too much bleach and it ripped. So we do have a ½ a burp rag as a back up. But I am also not allowed to put her big in the washer. I don’t blame her. She also has a bunny bear. It is a baby toy that is a pink bunny with a rattle in it. She won it at the fall fest at her daycare when she was two. We can always hear her coming. It is a small sound but when she is suppose to be sleeping we can hear her rattling as she plays. I am not sure where the bear part came from. They are both in sad shape like a toy that has been loved for over three years and dragged everywhere. We do check every time we leave somewhere…Janna, burp rag, bunny bear, we can go now. One day I left them at home when making a quick trip to the store…Big mistake. When upset or tired these two items calm her down. When mad or hurt these two give her comfort. She has to have them to sleep. Kitty often joins her at bed time but she is not mandatory. Burp rag is starting to get holes and I know it won’t last forever. At one point she was doing well not needing it when she lost it at school, I was the one upset. Once found it got loved on twice as much. At some point these two items (or what is left of them) will go in a special box as a great memory of the comfort they gave my baby girl, but for now they will anywhere Janna goes.

I found this picture of Janna where she is 1 year old holding her burg rag. I am shocked at how white and clean it looks.

Simon has a silky grasshopper mini blanket and a thick burp rag with a car. They are not as loved but I expect them to be in a couple year. He also loves his big silky white and yellow blanket.

If there was a fire what you would you grab…my answer has changed from before kids. I would get my family and if time, I would grab these precious items.

Isaac's Birthday

Isaac turned 34 the beginning of this month. This was the first year in a long time we were all healthy. Isaac's mom took him out to lunch, and then we had dinner with good friends. I felt bad he had to cook his own birthday dinner, but I am pretty sure he wouldn't want me to cook. The kids and I got a cake and Janna insisted Daddy needed a balloon. Janna was so excited about his birthday her whole class room made a card for him. It was a huge poster board covered in stickers and pictures. She was so proud of it. We had a great evening. Isaac got Steelers stuff as normal for his birthday. It is a habit I can't stop. He got a Nike running program for his i-pod and gift cards. He has already gotten music and apps for his i-pod.
Happy Birthday Isaac! You are loved!

Happy New Year!

So 2011 came in with a BANG. We are still digesting all that happened the first week. I have given my worries and concern to God and know he will take care of my family.

* Mom and Dad Hopper are transitioning and moving to Columbus IN.
*My Dad lost his job, now both of my parents are unemployed and looking for new jobs.
*A couple other items that I am not going to post because they are personal.
*We are really praying for a scholarship that Isaac applied for to come through.
*Isaac's job still ends in June, but we have some ideas and are pursing what do to next.

Work has been busy which is why it took me so long to write.
*Isaac and I have goals to get moving and exercise more. So far we have gotten a good start.
*We are still de-cluttering and making progress. Last weekend we trashed two bags and donated one.
*My house chore goal is to put the clean clothes away with-in 12 hours and not let it pile up.
*My personal goal is to yell less when I am upset and walk away and breathe instead.

Christmas in FtThomas

Over New Year weekend we had Christmas with my family. We had a great time with them. Carolyn and Randy came over for Christmas dinner and we finished the evening with dominos. New years eve we played a lego game that was fun. We even all stayed up til mid-night. This was the first year in a long time we stayed up and we weren't sick. Yeah! New years day Eric, Rachel, Isaac, and I made a trip to IKEA. Isaac and I had never been there before. Wow! It was awesome. After some measuring at home we are planning a trip back. I found a new place for a date for us when we are up there.

During the week...

After Christmas in Morehead we spent the week at home before going up north. We had a good time. We had a playdate with Ian, went to the library, dress up, and tent building. It was hard work somedays and I was ready to go see my family. I had a great time spending extra time with the kids.

Simon now had boy dress up clothes, so he no longer has to be Katie ( Janna's new friend).
